Description

The New York City market’s newer Major League Soccer team, which made its debut in 2015, won its first title in 2021, defeating the Portland Timbers in the championship game. The squad has adopted Yankee Stadium as their home pitch—though occasionally play in Queens' Citi Field and intend to move to a new (fully electric) stadium near there in 2027. Coming off a loss in the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2024, the side will look for a deeper run this season led by new coach Pascal Johnson and continued growth from its young centerpieces, including midfielder Santiago Rodriguez, forward Alonso Martinez and emerging goalie Matt Freese.
