The role of women in jazz has been overlooked throughout the genre’s history. This exhibit explores the achievements of female jazz musicians as instrumentalists, bandleaders, composers and arrangers—roles traditionally considered masculine—through photographs, posters, video, audio and other archival items in the library’s collection.
