Imperial Theatre

Description

Built specifically for musicals in 1923, this house has hosted the likes of Fiddler on the RoofDreamgirls and Les Misérables. While the marquee and entrance are on 45th Street, the actual theater for this Broadway venue is on 46th Street. When it was built by the Shuberts in 1923, there were already a number of their own showplaces on the same street, so they placed the entrance on 45th so the Imperial could be part of the action.
