Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir

Description

Surrounded by Central Park's super-popular jogging track as well as the famous bridle trail, this attraction holds more than one billion gallons of water and covers approximately 106 acres. Loons, ducks, egrets and more than a dozen other species call the reservoir home. Originally known simply as the Central Park Reservoir, it was renamed in honor of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in 1994 for her contributions to the City, and because part of the reservoir's jogging trail lies beneath the windows of her former Fifth Avenue apartment.
