Los Tacos No. 1

Description

Chelsea Market is an amazing food hall, and one of the best eating nooks is Los Tacos No. 1, which is designed like a sparkling-white food truck. The line moves fast, so make up your mind. Cheat sheet: tacos adobada (marinated pork shaved from a spit), a side of chips and smooth guacamole, and an especial—a fried quesadilla stuffed with the protein of your choice. To drink: jamaica (ha-MY-ka), a purple, thirst-quenching agua fresca made from hibiscus. Pay the cashier and hand your ticket to a taquero behind the counter, who will demand your preference for flour or corn tortillas, both freshly griddled. On the white-tiled counter are big stone mortars of mild pico de gallo, forest-green medium salsa and rust-red hot salsa plus lime wedges and radish slices. It is all so good and fun and cheap you should stop for a snack here even if you're not hungry.
