Highbridge Park

Description

Located on the bank of the Harlem River, scenic Highbridge Park features the city’s oldest standing bridge, which has connected Manhattan to the Bronx since the mid-19th century. High Bridge was constructed to carry the aqueduct across the river, but its pedestrian walkway became a destination unto itself, delighting strollers, artists and photographers—think of it as the original High Line. Painstakingly restored and recently reopened, the bridge is reason enough to visit the park, but the playgrounds, ballfields and natural landscape will keep parkgoers entertained for hours.
