The Black Whale

Description

Along City Island's main drag is a warm, casual tavern where locals flock for drinks, conversation, salads, seafood, pasta, hefty sandwiches and skyscraper sundaes. Rotating art exhibitions, stained glass and maritime artifacts add to the Black Whale's alluring personality. The eclectic New American menu has something for everyone—think chicken empanadas, fried pot stickers, seared sesame-crusted tuna and meatloaf. While there are no water views, there is a shady courtyard in back that's nice if the weather is cooperating. Come on Sunday when the nap-inducing brunch buffet includes waffles, pancakes, French toast, omelets, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit and crème brûlée for under $20.
